The Salvation Army Spokane’s Camp Gifford has impacted young lives since 1922!
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of The Salvation Army Spokane's CAMP GIFFORD on Deer Lake!
Just think! Thousands upon thousands of children have attended this wonderful camp over the past century and seen their lives affected in positive ways.
So how has Camp Gifford helped impact and brighten the lives of children over the years? Here are just a few memories from former campers…
“Happy 100th anniversary to Camp Gifford! Camp was a huge part of my life. I met a ton of friends there that I still keep in contact with to this day. Mark and Josephine were so amazing at their job and taking care of all of us. I was a camper from 2008-2013 and worked many positions there from counselor, lead counselor, and art director. Each of those positions has many great stories. Mark asked us what we all wanted for a reward, and someone said a 20' ice cream sundae. They made that happen and it was a nice reward after the end of a hard couple of days. Love Camp Gifford. It will always have a special place in my heart.”
~ Nichelle Peters
“I made kid flip-flops out of duct tape and cardboard. My first time as a camper, I was able to catch, care for, and hide a frog for 4 days before I let it go (ha-ha). This camp was a big part of helping me grow up, as well as the amazing Jeff Potts who worked there for so long.”
~ Jude Sanchez
“I spent many summertime weeks at Camp Gifford. Was honestly some of the best times of my childhood.”
~ Cinde Trebesch
“What a fun place to work at.”
~ Scott Farley
“I remember bits and pieces of when my (Salvation Army) officer parents were stationed in Spokane. I was just around 3-4. I remember staying in a cabin that faced the lake during a family camp”
~ Major Tammy World-Ray
Centennial Celebration!

In addition to turning 100-years-old in 2022, Camp Gifford is the oldest Salvation Army camp in one location in the USA!
