Below, you'll find our volunteer requirements and brief summaries of our ministries.

Basic Volunteer Requirements:

Age: 18 years or older.

Note: Minors (14 years of age and older) with a parent, legal guardian, or as part of a group are permitted in certain positions.

Must be able to complete a volunteer application packet, which includes a background check online

Food Bank:

The Salvation Army of Spokane Food Bank assists approximately 1,500 people per month. We are a client choice program, meaning that each client that comes through our doors gets to “shop” for their own food with dignity.   This requires us to utilize volunteers like you to assist clients and keep the shelves constantly stocked with a variety of food choices.

Assistance is needed: shopper, warehouse, stocking shelves, and sorting food, among other things.

Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Volunteers must wear close toed shoes, and shirts with sleeves (no tank tops).

The Salvation Army campus in Spokane sits on 6 acres.  We always need volunteers to assist with basic cleaning, landscaping, and even one-time large scale projects.

Please contact our Volunteer & Event Coordinator for more information on group volunteering.

Group projects include: grounds maintenance, cleaning, turning over rooms in our shelters, food bank assistance, painting, and helping out with special projects, among other things.
