The Salvation Army of Spokane has opened the doors to the city’s largest Warming Center as of January 9th, 2019.
The Warming Center, located at 213 E Ermina Avenue, will be open 7 days a week from 8:00pm to 7:00am every night. The Salvation Army, through its partnership with the city of Spokane, will provide sanctuary from below freezing winter temperatures to Spokane’s at-risk homeless population through March 31st, 2019.
Each individual looking to utilize the services of the Warming Center, housed in the former National Furniture building, will check in at the front desk where they will be given a sleeping mat and blanket for the night. Staff and volunteers will be on site in or order to ensure safety of all those looking to keep warm. This will be a pet friendly facility, providing that all pets are leashed or crated.
If you have questions regarding our warming center, please contact the Program Manager, Gerriann Armstrong, by calling the Warming Center office at (509) 216-2948.
Each Warming Center guest’s homeless situation will be assessed, and resources provided, with the goal of transitioning each person toward more permanent housing.
